What's Iyengar yoga?

Yoga Amrita teaches Iyengar Yoga, a method developed by yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar & emphasises precision and alignment in the postures. The teaching of Iyengar-style yoga is differentiated from other methods by a world-wide, standardised system of instruction. Teaching is oriented towards gradual but steady progress, rather than quick and fleeting results. Over a period of time, Iyengar Yoga becomes an extremely powerful and sophisticated discipline which can be practised to a very advanced age.

Iyengar Yoga is for anyone irrespective of age, gender, health, religion and circumstances in life. Iyengar Yoga is not competitive. You do not need to be an expert or at the peak of physical fitness to practice yoga. Only certified Iyengar teachers are entitled to use the name of yoga master BKS Iyengar & his teaching method. Each certified teacher is committed to upholding the excellence and purity of Iyengar Yoga. To find out more about Iyengar yoga visit the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia (BKSIYAA).
