Compared to other horse breeds, Clydesdales mature more slowly. Rather than being four or five years old when they are completely grown, the foals are seven or eight years old. Then, they have a weight of more than 1,000 kg, or a small automobile. They have the strength to pull things that are far heavier than they are. They therefore require a lot of food and water.
