With a long mane, robust feathering, a short back, and huge hooves, colored cobs are strong and powerful horses. Sometime around 1900, the horses were purposefully bred to have the characteristic piebald coat pattern. "Magpies" was their original name. Cobs are gentle and well-balanced.
